Preparation of Benzonitrile,4-bromo-2-fluoro-: it can be prepared by 4-bromo-2-fluoroaniline and hydrocyanic acid; potassium salt. This reaction has two steps. The first step reaction will need reagents cc. sulphuric acid and sodium nitrite. The reagents of the second step reaction are copper(II) sulphate pentahydrate and sodium hydrogen carbonate. The solvents of the reacrion are H2O, acetic acid and cyclohexane. The reaction should react at temperature of -5 °C for 15 minutes in first step reaction. The temperature of the second step reaction is 50 °C. And the yield is about 76%.

Uses of Benzonitrile,4-bromo-2-fluoro-: it can react with pent-1-yne to get 2-fluoro-4-pent-1'-yn-1'-ylbenzonitrile. This reaction will need reagents n-butyllithium, zinc chloride and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0), and solvents hexane and tetrahydrofuran. The reaction time is 20 hours with ambient temperature. The yield is about 94%.
