Preparation of Benzene,1-methyl-4-(trimethylsilyl)-: This chemical can be prepared by chloro-trimethyl-silane and 1-chloro-4-methyl-benzene. The reaction will need reagent Mg, and the menstruum tetrahydrofuran. The reaction time is 18 hours with heating, and the yield is about 75%. 

Uses of Benzene,1-methyl-4-(trimethylsilyl)-: It can react with chloro-trimethyl-silane to produce trimethyl-(4-trimethylsilanyl-benzyl)-silane. This reaction will need reagent t-BuLi, and the menstruum tetrahydrofuran and pentane. The reaction time is 1 hour with temperature of -25°C, and the yield is about 44%.
