Shock sensitivity of a vinamidinium bis-perchlorate reagent and demonstration of a lower energy alternative
'Vinamidinium' bis-perchlorate salt 1 (2-dimethylaminomethylene-1,3-bis(dimethylimmonio)-propane bis-perchlorate) was found to possess remarkably high thermal energy as well as significant shock sensitivity. A reported method for preparation of 2,5-disubstituted pyrimidines with 1 was of interest, and we found that the corresponding bis-tetrafluoroborate salt 2 was equally effective in this transformation, while possessing significantly lower thermal energy.
SYNTHESIS OF 1,3-DIHYDROFUROPYRIDINES AND 5,7-DIHYDROFUROPYRIDINES BY INTRAMOLECULAR DIELS-ALDER REACTIONS OF PYRIMIDINES. INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF STERIC INTERACTIONS ON THE REACTION RATE
Several 2- and 5-propynyloxymethylpyrimidines were synthesized and their intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction was studied. The products of the reaction were 5,7-dihydrofuropyridines and 1,3-dihydrofuropyridines, respectively.Introduction of on

Pyrimidine substituted-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane carboxylates useful for combating insect and acarine pests at a locus
A compound of formula: STR1 wherein R2 represents an α-branched alkyl group containing from 3 to 6 carbon atoms, and R represents either (a) hydroxy, halo or alkoxy of up to six carbon atoms, or (b) the group --OR1 where R1 is the residue of an alcohol of formula R1 OH which forms an insecticidal ester with chrysanthemic acid, permethrin acid or cyhalothrin acid. The compounds have insecticidal and acaricidal properties.
