- SYNTHESIS OF 2,2'-(ALKYLENEDIAMINO)DIBENZAZOLES: NEW HETEROCYCLIC TETRADENTATE LIGANDS.

A new preparation of dimethyl N,N'-(alkylene)bisdithiocarbamates and tetramethyl N,N'-(alkylene)bisdithiocarbonimidates from aliphatic diamines is reported.The reaction of the dimethyl bis(dithiocarbamates) with several aromatic dinucleophiles provides a new entry to dibenzothiazoles, dibenzoxazoles and dibenzimidazoles.Since the two heterocyclic units are connected in all cases by a flexible bridge, the title compounds represent new and promising tetradentate ligands towards the formation of a variety of cationic or neutral complexes with metal atoms.Key words:Bisdithiocarbamates; Bisdithiocarbonimidates; Diheterocycles; Dibenzothiazoles; Dibenzoxazoles; Dibenzimidazoles

- Synthesis and radioprotective effects of disodium alkanebisdithiocarbamates, ω aminoalkyldithiocarbamic acids and their N,N dimethyl derivatives

The 12 compounds studied containing the dithiocarbamate group, 5 of which are new, showed remarkably low acute toxicity in mice, with LD50 values generally higher than 1,000 mg/kg by the intraperitoneal route. Most noteworthy was 2 aminoethyldithiocarbamic acid, which protected 100% of mice against an LD99 of whole body γ-radiation in dose of 750 mg/kg, while the LD50 exceeds 1,500 mg/kg: certain higher homologues and N-methylated derivatives were also radioprotective and the series may merit further study.
