- Understanding the binding properties of phosphorylated glycoluril-derived molecular tweezers and selective nanomolar binding of natural polyamines in aqueous solution
-
A modular synthetic platform for the construction of flexible glycoluril-derived molecular tweezers was developed. The binding properties of four exemplary supramolecular hosts obtained via this approach towards 16 organic amines were investigated by means of 1H NMR titration. In this work, we compare the Ka values obtained this way with those of three structurally related molecular tweezers and provide a computational approach towards an explanation of the observed behavior of those novel hosts. The results showcase that certain structural modifications lead to very potent and selective binders of natural polyamines, with observed binding of spermine below 10 nM. This journal is

- Magnetic-nanoparticle-supported 2,2′-bis[3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl] imidazolium-substituted diethyl ether bis(tribromide): A convenient recyclable reagent for bromination
-
A new magnetic-nanoparticle-supported bromination reagent was synthesized by anchoring a 2,2′-bis[3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl]imidazolium-substituted diethyl ether bis(tribromide) onto the surface of γ-Fe2O 3 nanoparticles and subsequently treating this new ionic liquid with bromine. The nanoparticle reagent was obtained with good loading levels and has been successfully used for the efficient bromination of a wide range of alkenes, alkynes, ketones, and aromatic substrates. More importantly, the reagent could be easily recovered by an external magnet and reused six times without significant loss of activity. A new maghemite nanoparticle bromination reagent has been prepared. The nanoparticle reagent was obtained with good loading levels and has been successfully used for the efficient bromination of a wide range of alkenes, alkynes, ketones, and aromatic substrates. - Tetrameric DABCO-bromine: An efficient and versatile reagent for bromination of various organic compounds
-
Tetrameric DABCO-bromine is a powerful brominating agent but shows reasonable selectivity with certain substrates. The selective bromination for activated aromatic compounds and alkenes is reported. Synthesis of α-bromo ketones and nitriles has also been achieved by using this reagent and the results are also reported. All products reported were obtained in good to excellent yields.
