Metal-catalyzed reductive amination of formyl-containing linkers with N,N-dialkylformamide solvents is concomitant with the solvothermal coordination assembly, leading to novel MOFs functionalized with tertiary aliphatic amino groups. This illustrates a novel one-pot strategy to functionalize MOFs through in situ organic transformation. The UiO-66 MOFs partially functionalized with the amino groups are highly active heterogeneous catalysts for Knoevenagel condensation.

- Ionic liquid-decorated COF and its covalent composite aerogel for selective CO2 adsorption and catalytic conversion

Atmospheric CO2 is closely related to the greenhouse effect. Therefore, new practical materials and techniques for highly selective CO2 adsorption and catalytic conversion are imperative. Covalent composites of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with polymers (oligomers) might be a promising approach to meeting the multifaceted requirements of CO2 treatment. Herein, a novel COF-chitosan composite aerogel (COF-IL@chitosan) was designed and fabricated by chemical crosslinking of an allyl-imidazolium ionic liquid-decorated COF (COF-IL) with a thiol-attached chitosan (chitosan-SH) binder via a photoinduced thiol-ene reaction. The crystalline structure, highly selective CO2 adsorption and catalytic conversion features of COF-IL were found to be well maintained in the composite aerogel. The generated covalently coupled COF-chitosan composite material COF-IL@chitosan was found to be robust, uniform and processable even with a remarkably high COF loading (up to 80 wt%). More importantly, the processable COF-IL@chitosan aerogel could be readily shaped into a simplified fixed-bed reactor model via a facile templated freeze-drying procedure, and a scaled-up recyclable CO2 cycloaddition reaction was realized.

- Synthesis and solvent-free polymerisation of vinyl terephthalate for application as an anode material in organic batteries

The synthesis and polymerisation of dimethyl 2-vinylterephthalate M1 for possible applications as an anode material in organic secondary batteries are reported. M1 exhibits a vinyl group as a polymerisable unit while the carboxylate moieties serve as cation (Li+, Na+) coordinating sites. The gram-scale synthesis of M1 is described via three different routes in order to evaluate the route with the highest overall yield. Furthermore, different conditions for free radical polymerisation are investigated for obtaining polymer P1 with high molecular weights in order to study the impact of immobilising the carboxylate redox-active centres in a polymer on the charge/discharge cycling stability when used in an organic battery. In order to synthesis suitable materials for battery investigations, P1 was post-functionalised to the corresponding lithium salt P1-Li, which was further electrochemically investigated. Cyclic voltammetry measurements showed for P1-Li redox activity in the range of 0.5-1.2 V vs. Li+/Li which assigns it as a candidate for the anode. Under the present experimental conditions, the galvanostatic measurements of P1-Li exhibited a specific capacity of 64 mA h g1. It is further demonstrated that P1-Li shows an improved cycling stability of 83% discharge capacity remaining after 100 cycles compared to the parent monomer (44%).

The metal organic framework based on the imidazole sulfonic acid is obtained by synthesizing and modifying a metal organic framework based on an imidazole ligand through a sulfonic compound; a chemical structural formula of the metal organic framework based on the imidazole ligand is [Zr6O4(OH)4L6]n, wherein n is a natural number more than 0; L is an organic ligand L and a chemical structural formula of the organic ligand L is show in the description; a synthesis method of the organic ligand L comprises the following steps: firstly, enabling 3-methyl-terephthalic acid to react to obtain an intermediate A; secondly, taking the intermediate A and bromosuccinimide as raw materials and reacting to obtain an intermediate B; thirdly, taking the intermediate B and imidazole as raw materials and reacting to obtain an intermediate C; finally, carrying out hydrolysis reaction on the intermediate C to prepare the organic ligand L. The metal organic framework based on the imidazole sulfonic acid has a catalytic effect on benzaldehyde under normal pressure and has the characteristics of moderate reaction conditions, short reaction time, less dosage of a catalyst and capability of being recycled and repeatedly utilized.

The invention provides a metal-organic framework material modified based on alkyl sulfhydryl and a synthesis method thereof. The general formula of the metal-organic framework material is expressed as a formula I which is Zr6O4(OH)4(L)x. In the formula I, x is greater than or equal to 4 and is less than or equal to 6, and L has a structure as shown in a formula II. According to the metal-organic framework material, the L with the structure as shown in the formula II is used as a ligand, and L reacts with ZrCl4 to generate a Zr6O4 metal cluster three-dimensional frame structure, so that the metal-organic framework material has high chemical stability and heat stability; in addition, the sulfhydryl functional group in the metal-organic framework material is difficultly oxidized. Experiment results show that the frame can be collapsed when the highest temperature of the metal-organic framework material can reach 420 DEG C or higher; after the metal-organic framework material with the general formula expressed as the formula I is soaked in a strong alkali solution with a pH value of 12 and a strong acid solution with a pH value of 1 for 3 days, X-ray powder diffraction shows that the metal-organic framework material can still retain the basic framework structure.
