- BIS(4-VINYLTHIOPHENYL) BRIDGE COMPOUNDS
-
Bis(vinylthiophenyl) bridge compounds were obtained for the first time by the reaction of acetylene with di(4-mercaptophenyl) ether, di(4-mercaptophenyl) sulfide, 4,4'-dimercaptobiphenyl, and bis(4-mercaptophenyl)methane in DMSO.The effect of temperature on the product yield was investigated. An alternative preparative method is proposed for the synthesis of these compounds by the dehydrochlorination of the corresponding bis(2-chloroethylthiophenyl) compounds, produced by the quantitative reaction of the dithiols with 1,2-dichloroethane.
