- Concentrates of organophosphorous insecticides
-
A low volatile organic compound co-solvent system is disclosed for preparing emulsion concentrates of low melting organophosphorous insecticides wherein the bioefficacy of the insecticide active is significantly enhanced. The co-solvent system comprises a water-soluble ethoxylated fatty acid/rosin acid-nonionic surfactant composition.

- New synthesis of optically active O-aryl O-ethyl phenylphosphonothionates
-
The mixed anhydride method was applied to synthesize O-aryl O-ethyl phenylphosphonothionate. The reaction of O, O-diethyl phosphorochloridate with O-ethyl phenylphosphonothioic acid afforded O, O-diethyl phosphoric O-ethyl phenylphosphonothioic anhydride in a good yield. This anhydride was converted to O-aryl O-ethyl phenylphosphonothionates by reacting with the appropriate sodium phenoxide. This esterification occurred without racemization and produced optically pure O-ethyl O-(4-nitrophenyl) phenylphosphonothionate (EPN) and O-(4-cyanophenyl) O-ethyl phenylphosphonothionate (cyanofenphos).

- Alkyl 4-[o-(substituted methyleneamino)-phenyl]-3-thioallophanate miticides and fungicides
-
Various alkyl 4-[o-(substituted methyleneamino)phenyl]3-thioallophanates are useful as fungicides and mite ovicides. The compounds are prepared by reacting alkyl 4-(o-aminophenyl)-3-thioallophanates with aldehydes or trialkyl orthoformates. Some of the compounds are prepared by further reacting the reaction product of an alkyl 4-(o-aminophenyl)-3-thioallophanate and a trialkyl orthoformate with a primary or secondary amine. Exemplary species are methyl 4-[o-(o-fluorobenzylideneamino)phenyl]-3-thioallophanate, methyl 4-[o-(4-methylbenzylideneamino)phenyl]-3-thioallophanate and methyl 4-[o-(2-furfurylideneamino)phenyl]-3-thioallophanate.
