Hydroperfluoroalkanes are well known as being rather inert chemically.Hydroperfluoroalkanes react at high temperature with carbon tetrabromide and carbon tetrachloride to yield bromoperfluoroalkanes and chloroperfluoroalkanes. - Keywords: Hydroperfluoroalkanes; High-temperature reaction; Carbon tetrabromide; Carbon tetrachloride; Bromoperfluoroalkanes; Chloroperfluoroalkanes

- ELECTROCHEMICAL SYNTHESIS OF PERFLUOROALKYLCHLORIDES
-
Electrooxidation of perfluorocarboxylic acids in the presence of Cl2 yields perfluoroalkylchlorides RFCl.It is suggested that anodic oxidation of perfluorocarboxylate ions is the determining electrochemical stage in this electrochemical version of the Borodin-Hundsdikker reaction.

- A Lewis acid catalytic process for preparing fluorocarboxylic acid halides
-
Selected Group III and Group V Lewis acids were found to catalyze the isomerization and rearrangement of halosulfonyldifluoromethyl group (Rf-CF2SO2X, where X is either chlorine or fluorine) to form fluorocarboxylic acid halides (RfCOX). Fluorodesulfoxylation of the halosulfonyldifluoromethyl group yielded SOF2 as one of the two sulfur-containing oxides. Product analysis would suggest that both Lewis acid catalyzed and halogen exchange reactions are occurring and are dependent upon the starting halosulfonyldifluoromethyl material and Lewis acid.

- DIRECT GAS-PHASE CATALYTIC FLUORINATION OF PARTIALLY FLUORINATED ORGANIC COMPOUNDS
-
The fluorination of a wide range of polyfluorinated organic compounds with molecular fluorine in the gas phase in a layer of NiF2/support as catalyst was investigated. It was shown that the selectivity of fluorination of the series of fluoroolefins, acid fluorides, polyfluoroalkanes, and hydrogen-containing ethers can be greatly increased. The developed method was used on an industrial scale in the production of perfluorinated liquids.

A series of chlorofluoroalkanes having chlorines on adjacent carbon atoms has been prepared, i.e. n-C5F11CFClCCl3, n-C6F13CFClCCl3, n-C5F11CFClCFCl2, n-C6F13CFClCFCl2, n-C5F11CFClCF2Cl, n-C2F5CFClCFClC3F7 and n-CF3CFClCFClC4F9, by a combination of halogen exchange, dehalogenation and chlorine addition reactions. An attempt to synthesize n-C6F13CFClCF2CFCl2 by the coupling of n-C6F13CFClI with an excess of ICF2CFCl2 under UV radiation in the presence of Hg gave only n-C6F13CFClCFClC6F13 together with CFCl2CF2CF2CFCl2.Under parallel conditions from n-C6F13CFClI and CF2ClCFClI, n-C6F13CFClCFClCF2Cl was obtained in 48percent yield.
