- MOLECULARLY IMPRINTED SMART POLYMERS (MISPs)

Molecularly imprinted smart polymers (MISPs) are provided herein, as well as novel monomers for preparing MISPs, and processes for preparing MISPs. The MISPs can be used applications such as, for example, detecting/absorbing or isolating biological and non-biological agents. The MISPs described herein comprise responsive monomeric units which undergo a physico-chemical change (e.g., a bond formation or cleavage) in response to an external change, such that the MISP selectively binds to a target molecule and releases a bound target molecule in response to the external change.

- DENTAL COMPOSITION AND COMPOSITE RESIN

A dental composition of the present invention includes: a polymerizable monomer component (A); and an amorphous filler (B) having an average particle size of 1 to 20 μm and including silica-based fine particles and coatings of an oxide that cover the surfaces of the silica-based fine particles. The oxide contains a zirconium atom, a silicon atom, and an oxygen atom. The dental composition contains 20 to 500 parts by weight of the filler (B) per 100 parts by weight of the polymerizable monomer component (A). The dental composition has a viscosity of 10 to 800 Pa·s. It is preferable that the filler (B) contain spherical particles, and that the percentage of the spherical particles in the filler (B) be at least 60%.

The alkylene diphenyl ester compounds having the formula STR1 wherein halo is fluorine, chlorine or bromine; R is a radical having not more than 4 carbon atoms, selected from the group consisting of alkenyl, haloalkenyl and haloalkyl; R1 and R2 are each independently hydrogen or methyl; X is hydroxy or the radical RCOO--; m has a value of from 0 to 2; n has a value of from 0 to 6; w and p have values of 0 or 1, except that w is 1 when n is zero; the application of said compounds to plant in amounts sufficient to control fungi infestation and application of mixtures of said compounds to plants.
