Threefold and chemoselective couplings of triarylbismuths with benzylic chlorides and iodides using palladium catalysis
This paper describes the palladium-catalyzed studies on threefold coupling of triarylbismuth reagents with benzylic chlorides and iodides. The optimized protocol conditions are operationally simple, delivering threefold coupling of a variety of triarylbismuths in combination with benzylic chlorides and iodides. The two optimized protocols allowed the synthesis of a diverse range of unsymmetrical diarylmethanes in an efficient manner. As part of this study, chemoselective transformation of benzylic chlorides and iodides was also achieved. This journal is the Partner Organisations 2014.

Friedel-Crafts benzylation of arenes using FeCI3 impregnated montmorillonite K10
FeCI3 impregnated Montmorillonite K10 was found to catalyze the Friedel-Crafts benzylation of arenes. Monobenzylation, with the para isomer predominating, was achieved with trace amounts of dibenzylated product.

Catalysis of Friedel-Crafts alkylation using virgin and Lewis acid doped bentonite k-10
The reaction of benzyl chloride with active arenes to form diaryl methanes, has been found to be catalyzed by virgin India bentonite k-10.The doping of the bentonite k-10 with Lewis acids; AlCl3, FeCl3, and ZnCl2 has been found to enhance the catalytic actvity of the clay remarkably.Various parameters of the reaction have been optimised.Excellent results are obtained with respect to yield of the reaction, and time of the reaction.
