The reactions of o-quinone 1 with ylides 2a, 2b afforded the furocoumarins 6, 9a and 9b, 10 respectively.The reaction of 1 with ylides 12a, 12b gave the pyranocoumarins 16a, 16b, while in the presence of diphenylacetylene the o-hydroxy acetates 23a, 23b were obtained.The reaction of 1 with ylide 12a in ethanol solution afforded the ether 21.The reactions of 1 with ylides 25a, 25b and 29, prepared in situ, gave the dioxolocoumarins 26a, 26b and 30 respectively.The transformation of compound 16b to compound 20 and the preparation of compound 18 are also described.
