- Preparation of Aluminum Hydrides with Chelating Anilido-Imine Ligands by Addition of an Al-H Bond to a C=N Bond
-
Reacting o-C6H4F(CH = NC6H3iPr2-2,6) (L) with H3Al·NMe3 resulted in the aluminum dihydride with coordinated NMe3 of composition [o-C6H4F(CH2NC6H3iPr2-2,6)]AlH2(NMe3)(1). Furthermore, the aluminum monohydride [o-C6H4N(C6H3iPr2-2,6)(CH2NC6H3iPr2-2,6)]AlH(NMe3) (2) was prepared by treatment of the anilido-imine ligand o-C6H4N(C6H3iPr2-2,6)(CH = NC6H3iPr2-2,6) (L) with H3Al·NMe3 in high yield. The formations of the two complexes both involve aluminum hydride addition to the C=N double bond. Compounds 1 and 2 were characterized by 1H NMR and IR spectroscopic, elementary analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies.

- Synthesis and X-ray crystallographic study of N-(2-((2,6- diisopropylphenylimino)methyl)phenyl)benzene-1,2-diamine
-
The title compound N-(2-((2,6-diisopropylphenylimino)methyl)phenyl) benzene-1,2-diamine(C25H29N3, Mr = 371.51) was synthesized by the metathesis reactions in high yield. The compound was studied in the solution state by 1H-NMR spectroscopy and the solid state structure was determined by X-ray structural analysis. The title complex crystallizes in the p space group(triclinic) with the crystal cell parameters a = 10.763 (3) A, b = 10.784 (3) A, c = 11.433 (3) A α = 107.330 (2)°, β = 107.658 (2)°, γ = 110.335 (3)°, V = 1058.1 (4) A3 and Z = 2. X-ray analysis reveals that the atoms of C(1) to C(8), N(1) and N(2) form a planar and N2, C3, C2, C1 and N1 atoms can form a conjugated system. The structure in solution is in agreement with the solid-state structure.

- Chromium(III) complexes with chelating anilido-imine ligands: Synthesis, structures, and catalytic properties for ethylene polymerization
-
A series of novel chromium complexes that bear anilidoimine ligands, [{oriho-C6H4(NAr")(CH=NAr")}CrCl 2(thf)2] [Ar' = Ar" = C6H5 (1); Ar' = Ar" = P-MeC6H4 (2); Ar' = Ar" = 2,6-Me2C6H3 (3); Ar' = 2,6-iPr 2C6H3, Ar" = 2,6-Me2C 6H3 (4); Ar' = Ar" = 2,6-iPr2C 6H3 (5)], have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, and ESI-MS. The molecular structures of complexes 1 and 2 have been confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. When activated with methylaluminoxane (MAO), these complexes exhibit reasonable to good catalytic activity for ethylene polymerization and produce polyethylene with moderate molecular weights.
