- Fluoro-dideutero-methyl 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl ether (D2-sevoflurane) reactions on soda lime: deuterium content of deuterated sevoflurane and its volatile degradation products
-
The degradation of the experimental anesthetic, fluoro-dideutero-methyl 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl ether (D2-sevoflurane) on soda lime (Sodasorb) has been compared with sevoflurane and examined in regard to product deuterium content.Similar products and rates of degradation were found between sevoflurane and D2-sevoflurane, and all D2-sevoflurane products contained the fluorodideuteromethoxy group.Four products contained a trideuteromethoxy moiety, indicating the addition of methanol derived from the fluoromethoxy carbon of D2-sevoflurane. - Keywords: Sevoflurane; D2-Sevoflurane; Deuteration; Soda lime; Degradation products

- DETAILED INVESTIGATION OF FLUOROMETHYL 1,1,1,3,3,3-HEXAFLUORO-2-PROPYL ETHER (SEVOFLURANE) AND ITS DEGRADATION PRODUCTS. PART I: SYNTHESIS OF FLUORINATED, SODA LIME INDUCED DEGRADATION PRODUCTS

Three fluorinated compounds from the degradation of Sevoflurane (I), fluoromethyl 1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoro-2-propenyl ether (II), fluoromethyl 1-methoxy-1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoro-2-propyl ether (III) and fluoromethyl 1-methoxy-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoro-2-propenyl ether (IV) were synthesized independently and were fully characterized.A side product, fluoromethyl 1-cyano-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl ether (V) was isolated in the synthesis of (II).
