- Catalyst-Controlled Regioselective Chlorination of Phenols and Anilines through a Lewis Basic Selenoether Catalyst

We report a highly efficient ortho-selective electrophilic chlorination of phenols utilizing a Lewis basic selenoether catalyst. The selenoether catalyst resulted in comparable selectivities to our previously reported bis-thiourea ortho-selective catalyst, with a catalyst loading as low as 1%. The new catalytic system also allowed us to extend this chemistry to obtain excellent ortho-selectivities for unprotected anilines. The selectivities of this reaction are up to >20:1 ortho/para, while the innate selectivities for phenols and anilines are approximately 1:4 ortho/para. A series of preliminary studies revealed that the substrates require a hydrogen-bonding moiety for selectivity.

- Synthesis method of 2-chloro-6-bromaniline

The invention relates to a synthesis method of 2-chloro-6-bromaniline and belongs to the field of chemical synthesis. The synthesis method comprises the following steps: by taking simple sulfonamide as a starting raw material, carrying out selective single halogenation reaction on sulfonamide, so that the 2-chloro-6-bromaniline is obtained through three-step reaction, wherein yield of the halogenation reaction is more than or equal to 80% respectively, and a structure is confirmed by virtue of 1H NMR and 13C NMR. The synthesis method provided by the invention has the advantages that sulfanilamide which is simpler and easier to get compared with m-chlorobromobenzene can be taken as a raw material, the 2-chloro-6-bromaniline is provided with high yield under relatively mild conditions, synthesis of 2-chloro-6-bromaniline analogues also can be expanded, namely the same or different halogens are introduced to sites 2,6- of phenylamine, and phenylamine analogues substituted by different halogens can be obtained by virtue of a synthesis route.

- Selective oxidation of sulfides and oxidative bromination of organic substrates catalyzed by polymer anchored Cu(II) complex

A new polymer-anchored Cu(II) complex has been synthesized and characterized. The catalytic performance of the complex has been tested for the oxidation of sulfides and in oxidative bromination reaction with hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant. Sulfides have been selectively oxidized to the corresponding sulfoxides in excellent yields and in the presence of KBr as the bromine source, organic substrates have been selectively converted to mono bromo substituted compounds using polymer-anchored Cu(II) catalyst. This catalyst showed excellent catalytic activity, high selectivity, and recyclability. The polymer-anchored Cu(II) catalyst could be easily recovered by filtration and reused more than five times without appreciable loss of its initial activity.

- Identification of bromination products of chloro-substituted anilines in aqueous environment by gas chromatography

To reduce the detection limits of aniline and its various chloroderivatives (all isomers of mono- and dichloroanilines, 2,4,5 -, 2,4,6-, and 3,4,5-trichloroanilines, pentachloroaniline) in aqueous media we suggested bromination reaction, followed by gas chromatographic definition bromo derivatives of chloroanilines on a selective electron capture detector. To identify the products of bromination of chloroaniline in combination with mass-spectrometric data we used chromatographic retention indices on standard nonpolar polydimethylsiloxane stationary phase that was determined for 50 compounds in this class. The technique of identifying bromoderivatives of chloroaniline in water was developed at the gas-chromatographic analysis in the selective electron capture detector. To improve the reliability of the identification of additional bromoderivatives of chloroanilines we obtained their trifluoroacetyl derivatives.
