Synthesis of pyrrole by 1,5,3,7-diazadiphosphocine-1,5-dicarboxylic acid as acid catalyst
As a part of research program related to the synthetic study of pharmacologically interesting compounds and good chelating agent for transition metal ion, we here report the synthesis of an unusual medium-sized ring heterocyclic ligand with mixed carboxylic-amino-phosphonic donating group. We have synthesized 3,7-dihydroxy-3,7-dioxoperhydro-1,5,3,7-diazadiphosphocine-1,5-diacetic acid (1a), 2-[5-(1,2-dicarboxyethyl-3,7-dihydroxy-3,7-dioxo-3[1,5,3,7]diazadiphosphocan-1-yl)-succinic acid (1b) and 3,7-dihydroxy-3,7-diox-operhydro-1,3,5,7-diazadiphosphocine-1,5-di-(2-glutaric acid) (1c). In order to analyze reactivity of synthesized dicarboxylic acids 1a-c as acid catalysts, we tried reactions of pyrrole formation according to acid variation. We know that the catalytic ability of synthesized dicarboxylic acids (1a-c) are very good at pyrrole formation reaction.

Synthesis and characterization of nano-cellulose immobilized phenanthroline-copper (I) complex as a recyclable and efficient catalyst for preparation of diaryl ethers, N-aryl amides and N-aryl heterocycles
Functionalized nanocellulose was prepared and employed for immobilization of phenanthroline-copper(I) complex to afford cellulose nanofibril grafted heterogeneous copper catalyst [CNF-phen-Cu(I)]. This nanocatalyst was well characterized using FT-IR, NMR, XRD, CHNS, AAS, TGA, EDX and SEM. The activities of the synthesized catalyst were examined in the synthesis of diaryl ethers via C-O cross-coupling of phenols and aryl iodides, as well as, the preparation of N-aryl amides and N-aryl heterocycles through C-N cross-coupling of amides and N-H heterocycle compounds with aryl halides. In this trend, various substrates containing electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups were exploited to evaluate the generality of this catalytic protocol. Accordingly, the catalyst demonstrated remarkable catalytic efficiency for both C-N and C-O cross-coupling reactions, thereby resulting in good to excellent yields of the desired products. Furthermore, the recoverability experiments of the catalyst showed that it can be readily retrieved by simple filtration and successfully reused several times with negligible loss of its catalytic activity.

A solvent-free manganese(II) -catalyzed Clauson-Kaas protocol for the synthesis of N-aryl pyrroles under microwave irradiation
The first manganese-catalyzed modified Clauson-Kaas reaction for N-substituted pyrrole synthesis using 2,5-dimethoxytetrahydrofuran with variously substituted aromatic amines has been developed (up to 89% yield). This interesting neat strategy is free from additives including co-catalysts, ligands, and acids. Relatively low cost, environmentally benign, and handy Mn(NO3)2·4H2O is employed as the catalyst under microwave conditions with a very short reaction time (20?min). The above qualities attest to the green nature of this reaction.

Amidosulfonic acid supported on graphitic carbon nitride: novel and straightforward catalyst for Paal–Knorr pyrrole reaction under mild conditions
A novel heterogeneous acidic catalyst was prepared by in situ immobilization of amidosulfonic acid (NH2SO3H) on graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) under hydrothermal conditions. The textural morphology of NH2SO3H/g-C3N4 nanocomposite was characterized via powder X-ray diffraction, FT-IR, TGA, EDX, and scanning electron microscopy. The spatial arrangement of the amidosulfonic acid on the surface of g-C3N4 leads to the construction of a unique solid acid structure, resulting in a substantial enhancement of catalytic activity toward a high efficient preparation of pyrroles by Paal–Knorr reaction. The reactions undergo completion readily with good to excellent yields, with simple purification in an environmentally friendly manner. The NH2SO3H/g-C3N4 nanocomposite can be readily recycled, and no noteworthy reduction in the catalytic activity detected after four runs. Graphic abstract: [Figure not available: see fulltext.]

Photo-induced thiolate catalytic activation of inert Caryl-hetero bonds for radical borylation
Substantial effort is currently being devoted to obtaining photoredox catalysts with high redox power. Yet, it remains challenging to apply the currently established methods to the activation of bonds with high bond dissociation energy and to substrates with high reduction potentials. Herein, we introduce a novel photocatalytic strategy for the activation of inert substituted arenes for aryl borylation by using thiolate as a catalyst. This catalytic system exhibits strong reducing ability and engages non-activated Caryl–F, Caryl–X, Caryl–O, Caryl–N, and Caryl–S bonds in productive radical borylation reactions, thus expanding the available aryl radical precursor scope. Despite its high reducing power, the method has a broad substrate scope and good functional-group tolerance. Spectroscopic investigations and control experiments suggest the formation of a charge-transfer complex as the key step to activate the substrates.

A Bottleable Imidazole-Based Radical as a Single Electron Transfer Reagent
Reduction of 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-2,4-diphenyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium chloride (1) resulted in the formation of the first structurally characterized imidazole-based radical 2. 2 was established as a single electron transfer reagent by treating it with an acceptor molecule tetracyanoethylene. Moreover, radical 2 was utilized as an organic electron donor in a number of organic transformations such as in activation of an aryl-halide bond, alkene hydrosilylation, and in catalytic reduction of CO2 to methoxyborane, all under ambient temperature and pressure.

Reduced Phenalenyl in Catalytic Dehalogenative Deuteration and Hydrodehalogenation of Aryl Halides
Dehalogenative deuteration reactions are generally performed through metal-mediated processes. This report demonstrates a mild protocol for hydrodehalogenation and dehalogenative deuteration of aryl/heteroaryl halides (39 examples) using a reduced odd alternant hydrocarbon phenalenyl under transition metal-free conditions and has been employed successfully for the incorporation of deuterium in various biologically active compounds. The combined approach of experimental and theoretical studies revealed a single electron transfer-based mechanism.

A novel two-dimensional metal-organic framework as a recyclable heterogeneous catalyst for the dehydrogenative oxidation of alcohol and theN-arylation of azole compounds
A novel metal-organic framework (MOF) with two-dimensional (2D) crystal structure was developed using Cu(NO3)2·3H2O and 2,2′,5,5′-tetramethoxy-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-dicarboxylic acid. Further, its structure was characterized using infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetry, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray crystallography. L-Proline N-oxide dihydrazides as an efficient ligand for cross-coupling reactions of aryl iodides and bromides with amines and phenols
A novel catalytic system based on L-proline N-oxide/CuI was developed and applied to the cross-coupling reactions of various N- and O- nucleophilic reagents with aryl iodides and bromides. This strategy featured in the employment of an-proline derived dihydrazides N-oxide compound as the superior supporting ligand. By using this protocol, a variety of products, including N-arylimidazoles, N-arylpyrazoles, N-arylpyrroles, N-arylamines, and aryl ethers, were synthesized with up to 99% yield.

Utilization of caffeine carbon supported cobalt catalyst in the tandem synthesis of pyrroles from nitroarenes and alkenyl diols
Employing bio-waste caffeine carbon-supported heterogeneous cobalt catalyst, synthesis of various substituted pyrrole derivatives is reported. In this methodology, pyrroles were synthesized through coupling between nitroarenes and alkenyl diols in a tandem manner. Among all the heterogeneous catalysts Co(OAc)2-CC-800 displayed the highest catalytic activity. Preparative scale synthesis of pyrroles and synthesis of anti-tubercular agent 5-(4-(1H-pyrrol-1-yl)phenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiol revealed the practical applicability of this protocol. Several kinetic experiments and Hammett studies were conducted to understand the probable mechanism and electronic effects on this transformation.

Functionalization of superparamagnetic Fe3O4@SiO2 nanoparticles with a Cu(II) binuclear Schiff base complex as an efficient and reusable nanomagnetic catalyst for N-arylation of α-amino acids and nitrogen-containing heterocycles with aryl halides
Fe3O4@SiO2 nanoparticles was functionalized with a binuclear Schiff base Cu(II)-complex (Fe3O4@SiO2/Schiff base-Cu(II) NPs) and used as an effective magnetic hetereogeneous nanocatalyst for the N-arylation of α-amino acids and nitrogen-containig heterocycles. The catalyst, Fe3O4@SiO2/Schiff base-Cu(II) NPs, was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) analyses step by step. Size, morphology, and size distribution of the nanocatalyst were studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and dynamic light scatterings (DLS) analyses, respectively. The structure of Fe3O4 nanoparticles was checked by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. Furthermore, the magnetic properties of the nanocatalyst were investigated by vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis. Loading content as well as leaching amounts of copper supported by the catalyst was measured by inductive coupled plasma (ICP) analysis. Also, thermal studies of the nanocatalyst was studied by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) instrument. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis of the catalyst revealed that the copper sites are in +2 oxidation state. The Fe3O4@SiO2/Schiff base-Cu(II) complex was found to be an effective catalyst for C–N cross-coupling reactions, which high to excellent yields were achieved for α-amino acids as well as N-hetereocyclic compounds. Easy recoverability of the catalyst by an external magnet, reusability up to eight runs without significant loss of activity, and its well stability during the reaction are among the other highlights of this catalyst.

Copper nanoparticle anchored biguanidine-modified Zr-UiO-66 MOFs: a competent heterogeneous and reusable nanocatalyst in Buchwald-Hartwig and Ullmann type coupling reactions
We have designed a functionalized metal-organic framework (MOF) of UiO topology as a support, with an extremely high surface area, adjustable pore sizes and stable crystalline coordination polymeric structure and implanted copper (Cu) nanoparticles thereon. The core three dimensional Zr-derived MOF (UiO-66-NH2) was modified with a biguanidine moiety following a covalent post-functionalization approach. The morphological and physicochemical features of the material were determined using analytical methods such as FT-IR, SEM, TEM, EDX, atomic mapping, XRD and ICP-OES. The SEM and XRD results justified the unaffected morphology of Zr-MOF after structural modifications. The as-synthesized UiO-66-biguanidine/Cu nanocomposite was catalytically explored in the aryl and heteroaryl Buchwald-Hartwig C-N and Ullmann type C-O cross coupling reactions with excellent yields. A library of biaryl amine and biaryl ethers was synthesized over the catalyst under mild and green conditions. Furthermore, the catalyst was isolated by centrifugation and recycled 11 times with no significant copper leaching or change in its activity.

Development of Pd(OAc)2-catalyzed tandem oxidation of C[sbnd]N, C[sbnd]C, and C(sp3)–H bonds: Concise synthesis of 1-aroylisoquinoline, oxoaporphine, and 8-oxyprotoberberine alkaloids
A catalytic tandem oxidation of C[sbnd]N, C[sbnd]C, and C(sp3)–H bonds is developed. This tandem oxidation is applied to two-step total syntheses of papaveraldine and pulcheotine A. Additionally, the total synthesis of liriodenine is achieved in six steps from homopiperonyl alcohol and 2-bromophenylacetonitrile by applying this catalytic tandem oxidation. Moreover, the direct conversion of xylopinine to 8-oxypseudopalmatine in a 76% yield demonstrates the versatility of this catalytic reaction.

Cascade Synthesis of Pyrroles from Nitroarenes with Benign Reductants Using a Heterogeneous Cobalt Catalyst
A bifunctional 3d-metal catalyst for the cascade synthesis of diverse pyrroles from nitroarenes is presented. The optimal catalytic system Co/NGr-C@SiO2-L is obtained by pyrolysis of a cobalt-impregnated composite followed by subsequent selective leaching. In the presence of this material, (transfer) hydrogenation of easily available nitroarenes and subsequent Paal–Knorr/Clauson-Kass condensation provides >40 pyrroles in good to high yields using dihydrogen, formic acid, or a CO/H2O mixture (WGSR conditions) as reductant. In addition to the favorable step economy, this straightforward domino process does not require any solvents or external co-catalysts. The general synthetic utility of this methodology was demonstrated on a variety of functionalized substrates including the preparation of biologically active and pharmaceutically relevant compounds, for example, (+)-Isamoltane.

Visible-Light-Induced Ni-Catalyzed Radical Borylation of Chloroarenes
A highly selective and general photoinduced C-Cl borylation protocol that employs [Ni(IMes)2] (IMes = 1,3-dimesitylimidazoline-2-ylidene) for the radical borylation of chloroarenes is reported. This photoinduced system operates with visible light (400 nm) and achieves borylation of a wide range of chloroarenes with B2pin2 at room temperature in excellent yields and with high selectivity, thereby demonstrating its broad utility and functional group tolerance. Mechanistic investigations suggest that the borylation reactions proceed via a radical process. EPR studies demonstrate that [Ni(IMes)2] undergoes very fast chlorine atom abstraction from aryl chlorides to give [NiI(IMes)2Cl] and aryl radicals. Control experiments indicate that light promotes the reaction of [NiI(IMes)2Cl] with aryl chlorides generating additional aryl radicals and [NiII(IMes)2Cl2]. The aryl radicals react with an anionic sp2-sp3 diborane [B2pin2(OMe)]- formed from B2pin2 and KOMe to yield the corresponding borylation product and the [Bpin(OMe)]?- radical anion, which reduces [NiII(IMes)2Cl2] under irradiation to regenerate [NiI(IMes)2Cl] and [Ni(IMes)2] for the next catalytic cycle.

Efficient nickel(II) immobilized on EDTA‐modified Fe3O4?SiO2 nanospheres as a novel nanocatalyst for amination of heteroaryl carbamates and sulfamates through the cleavage of C-O bond
In this report, there was immobilized Nickel(II) on EDTA‐modified Fe3O4?SiO2 nanospheres and catalytic activity of which was described in the arylation reaction of nitrogen nucleophiles via carbon-oxygen bond cleavage of (hetero)aryl carbamates and sulfamates. This protocol was applied to various nitrogen nucleophiles such as amines, anilines and N-heterocyclic compounds (pyrroles, indoles and imidazoles) in good to excellent yields. This reaction was promoted without the use of any external ligands under simple and mild conditions. The synthesized catalyst was well characterized by FT‐IR, XRD, TEM, FE-SEM, TGA, DLS,XPS, VSM, EDX, ICP and nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm analysis. The recycling studies revealed that the catalyst could be easily recovered by used the external magnetic field and directly reused for at least 7 times without the significant decrease in its catalytic activity.

N -Arylation of (hetero)arylamines using aryl sulfamates and carbamates via C-O bond activation enabled by a reusable and durable nickel(0) catalyst
An effective and general aryl amination protocol has been developed using a magnetically recoverable Ni(0) based nanocatalyst. This new stable catalyst was prepared on Fe3O4@SiO2 modified by EDTA and investigated by FT-IR, EDX, TEM, XRD, DLS, FE-SEM, XPS, NMR, TGA, VSM, ICP and elemental analysis techniques. The reaction proceeded via carbon-oxygen bond cleavage of (hetero)aryl carbamates and sulfamates under simple and mild conditions without the use of any external ligands. This method demonstrated functional group tolerance in the N-arylation of various nitrogen-containing compounds as well as aliphatic amines, anilines, pyrroles, pyrazoles, imidazoles, indoles, and indazoles with good to excellent yields. Visible-Light-Induced, Base-Promoted Transition-Metal-Free Dehalogenation of Aryl Fluorides, Chlorides, Bromides, and Iodides
We report a simple and efficient visible-light-induced transition-metal-free hydrogenation of aryl halides. The combined visible light and base system is used to initiate the desired radical-mediated hydrogenation. A variety of aryl fluorides, chlorides, bromides, and iodides could be reduced to the corresponding (hetero)arenes with excellent yields under mild conditions. Lactam derivatives and preparation method and application thereof
The invention relates to lactam derivatives and a preparation method and application thereof. Compared with the prior art, the invention provides lactam compounds with a novel structure. The compoundsand compositions thereof have remarkable activity in inhibition of the proliferation of cancer cells (including, but not limited to, the liver cancer cell line HepG2 and the lung cancer cell line A549), and the activity of multiple compounds is in the same order of magnitude as the activity of the commercial drug adriamycin or superior to the activity of adriamycin. Ligand and Cu freeN-arylation of indoles, pyrroles and benzylamines with aryl halides catalyzed by a Pd nanocatalyst
Herein, theN-arylation of aromatic heterocycles like indoles and pyrroles is reported by a Pd nanocatalyst under ligand- and Cu-free conditions. The reaction conditions tolerate several functional groups and work very efficiently for aryl iodides and bromides. Aryl chlorides are also successful as the coupling partners albeit with lower yields. The methodology is also applicable for theN-arylation of aliphatic primary amines as demonstrated by the reactions of benzylamine with several aryl iodides as well as bromides. The recyclable Pd nanocatalyst catalyzes the reaction by a heterogeneous mechanism, which has been demonstrated by several techniques including the three phase test and thein situICP-MS analysis of the reaction mixture.

A Co-Cu bimetallic magnetic nanocatalyst with synergistic and bifunctional performance for the base-free Suzuki, Sonogashira, and C-N cross-coupling reactions in water
A novel magnetically recyclable bimetallic catalyst was prepared by anchoring imidazolium moiety and PEG chains on Fe3O4 NPs and named as Fe3O4?PEG/Cu-Co. It was found to be a powerful catalyst for the Sonogashira, Suzuki, and C-N cross-coupling reactions in water as a green solvent without the need for any external base. Fe3O4?PEG/Cu-Co was well characterized with FT-IR, FE-SEM, TEM, VSM, EDX, ICP, UV-visible, CV, and XPS analyses. Optimum ranges of parameters such as time, temperature, and amount of catalyst were investigated by Design-Expert 10.0.7 software for C-C Suzuki, Sonogashira, and C-N cross-coupling reactions to find the optimum conditions. The catalyst was compatible with a variety of aryl halides and N-arenes and gave favorable coupling products with good to high yields for all of them. Hot filtration and Hg poisoning tests involving the nanocatalyst revealed the stability, low metal leaching, and heterogeneous nature of the catalyst. Reaction mechanisms were proposed by study of the UV-visible spectra in situ as well as hydroquinone tests during the progress of reactions. In situ XPS analysis was also used to study the reaction mechanism. To prove the synergistic performance of Co and Cu in the catalyst, its various homologues were synthesized and applied to a model reaction separately, and then their catalytic activities were investigated. Finally, the catalyst could be recovered from the reaction mixture simply, and reused for several cycles with a minimum loss in catalytic activity and performance.

Palladium-Catalyzed C-N Cross-Coupling of NH-Heteroarenes and Quaternary Ammonium Salts via C-N Bond Cleavage
In this paper, we extend the substrate class of Buchwald-Hartwig amination to quaternary ammonium salts. In the presence of Pd(OAc)2 and t-BuXPhos, the coupling of aryl- or arylmethyltrimethylammonium triflates with NH-heteroarenes via C-N bond cleavage affords the desired N-aryl or N-arylmethyl heteroarenes in moderate to excellent yields.

A facile synthesis of 1-aryl pyrroles by clauson-Kaas reaction using oxone as a catalyst under microwave irradiation

Solvent Free Synthesis of N-Substituted Pyrroles Catalyzed by Calcium Nitrate
Moderated and mild way for synthesizing N-substituted pyrrole has been demonstrated herein. No solvents need to be used for this reaction, and instead, reactants themselves acted as a reaction medium. In fact, the reaction is carried out using catalytic amount of Ca(NO3)2.4H2O. Palladium-Catalyzed Methylation of Nitroarenes with Methanol
A procedure for the synthesis of N-methyl-arylamines directly from nitroarenes using methanol as green methylating agent was developed. The key to success is the use of a specific catalyst system consisting of palladium acetate and the ligand 1-[2,6-bis(isopropyl)phenyl]-2-[tert-butyl(2-pyridinyl)phosphino]-1H-Imidazole (L1). The generality of this protocol is demonstrated in the synthesis of more than 20 N-methyl-arylamines under comparably mild conditions. Combining this novel methodology with subsequent coupling processes using the same catalyst allows for efficient diversification of aromatic nitro compounds to a broad variety of amines including drug molecules.

Hydrodehalogenation of Aryl Halides through Direct Electrolysis
A catalyst- and metal-free electrochemical hydrodehalogenation of aryl halides is disclosed. Our reaction by a flexible protocol is operated in an undivided cell equipped with an inexpensive graphite rod anode and cathode. Trialkylamines nBu3N/Et3N behave as effective reductants and hydrogen atom donors for this electrochemical reductive reaction. Various aryl and heteroaryl bromides worked effectively. The typically less reactive aryl chlorides and fluorides can also be smoothly converted. The utility of our method is demonstrated by detoxification of harmful pesticides and hydrodebromination of a dibrominated biphenyl (analogues of flame-retardants) in gram scale.

Development and mechanistic investigation of the manganese(iii) salen-catalyzed dehydrogenation of alcohols
The first example of a manganese(iii) catalyst for the acceptorless dehydrogenation of alcohols is presented. N,N′-Bis(salicylidene)-1,2-cyclohexanediaminomanganese(iii) chloride (2) has been shown to catalyze the direct synthesis of imines from a variety of alcohols and amines with the liberation of hydrogen gas. The mechanism has been investigated experimentally with labelled substrates and theoretically with DFT calculations. The results indicate a metal-ligand bifunctional pathway in which both imine groups in the salen ligand are first reduced to form a manganese(iii) amido complex as the catalytically active species. Dehydrogenation of the alcohol then takes place by a stepwise outer-sphere hydrogen transfer generating a manganese(iii) salan hydride from which hydrogen gas is released.

Recyclable bimetallic CuMoO4 nanoparticles for C-N cross-coupling reaction under mild conditions
Herein we disclosed inexpensive copper(ii) bimetallic CuMoO4 nanoparticles for the C-N cross-coupling reaction of alkyl and aryl amines with haloarenes. The reaction proceeds under mild and ligand free conditions. The catalyst is recyclable and effective for a wide range of amines and haloarenes. Here, the efficiency of the Cu(ii) catalyst is increased by doping molybdenum metal. The bimetallic nanoparticles are anticipated to proceed via normal oxidative addition and reductive eliminations.

Copper(I)-USY as a Ligand-Free and Recyclable Catalyst for Ullmann-Type O-, N-, S-, and C-Arylation Reactions: Scope and Application to Total Synthesis
The copper(I)-doped zeolite CuI-USY proved to be a versatile, efficient, and recyclable catalyst for various Ullmann-type coupling reactions. Easy to prepare and cheap, this catalytic material enables the arylation and heteroarylation of diverse O-, N-, S-, and C-nucleophiles under ligand-free conditions while exhibiting large functional group compatibility. The facility of this catalyst to promote C-O bond formation was further demonstrated with the total synthesis of 3-methylobovatol, a naturally occurring diaryl ether of biological relevance. From a mechanistic viewpoint, two competitive pathways depending on the nature of the nucleophile and consistent with the obtained results have been proposed.

Novel and highly efficient preparation of pyrroles using supported ionic liquid ILCF3SO3@SiO2 as a heterogeneous catalyst
Abstract: A supported ionic liquid ILCF3SO3@SiO2 was synthesized and used as a highly efficient catalyst in the Paal–Knorr reaction for the preparation of pyrroles. Synthesis of α-Formylated N-Heterocycles and Their 1,1-Diacetates from Inactivated Cyclic Amines Involving an Oxidative Ring Contraction
A novel synthesis of pyrrolidine-2-carbaldehydes or tetrahydropyridine-2-carbaldehydes from the cascade reactions of N-arylpiperidines or N-arylazepanes is presented. Mechanistically, the formation of the title compounds involves an unprecedented oxidative ring contraction of inactivated cyclic amines via Cu(OAc)2/KI/O2-promoted oxidative cleavage and reformation of the C-N bond. Interestingly, when PhI(OAc)2 was used in place of KI, 1,1-diacetates of the corresponding aldehydes were directly obtained with good efficiency. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first example of regioselective C(sp3)-H bond functionalization and C(sp3)-N bond activation of saturated cyclic amines using copper salt and oxygen.

Dendrimer-encapsulated Cu(Π) nanoparticles immobilized on superparamagnetic Fe3O4@SiO2 nanoparticles as a novel recyclable catalyst for N-arylation of nitrogen heterocycles and green synthesis of 5-substituted 1H-tetrazoles
In this study, dendrimer-encapsulated Cu(Π) nanoparticles immobilized on superparamagnetic Fe3O4@SiO2 nanoparticles were prepared via a multistep-synthesis. Then, the synthesized composite was fully characterized by various techniques such as fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), dynamic light scattering (DLS), UV-vis spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and vibration sample magnetometer (VSM). From the information gained by. FE-SEM and TEM studies it can be inferred that the particles are mostly spherical in shape and have an average size of 50?nm. Also, the amount of Cu is determined to be 0.51?mmol/g in the catalyst by inductively coupled plasma (ICP) analyzer. This magnetic nano-compound has been successfully applied as a highly efficient, magnetically recoverable and stable catalyst for N-arylation of nitrogen heterocycles with aryl halides (I, Br) and arylboronic acids without using external ligands or additives. The catalyst was also employed in a one-pot, three-component reaction for the efficient and green synthesis of 5-substituted 1H-tetrazoles using various aldehydes, hydroxylamine hydrochloride and sodium azide in water. The magnetic catalyst can be easily separated by an external magnet bar and is recycled seven times without significant loss of its activity.

Hoveyda-Grubbs catalyst analogues bearing the derivatives of: N -phenylpyrrol in the carbene ligand-structure, stability, activity and unique ruthenium-phenyl interactions
We have synthesized a series of N-phenylpyrrole and N-phenylindole carbenes and used them as ruthenium-ligating moieties in the synthesis of Hoveyda-Grubbs catalyst derivatives. We show that most of these complexes are difficult to synthesize and unstable apart from the N-phenylpyrrole-2,6-diisopropylphenyl ruthenium complex and its perbrominated derivative. These two systems are almost completely inactive in ring-closing metathesis at room temperature and become active only at 80 °C. DFT, SAPT0 and DLPNO-CCSD(T) calculations suggest that the rarely occurring phenyl-ruthenium interactions are responsible for the very slow initiation of these precatalysts at low temperatures.

Pd/Cu-catalyzed dual C-H bond carbonylation towards the synthesis of fluorazones
Pd/Cu catalyzed oxidative dual C-H bond activation/carbonylation still remains a great challenge due to the generation of by-products via C-C bond formation. Unveiling the Biocatalytic Aromatizing Activity of Monoamine Oxidases MAO-N and 6-HDNO: Development of Chemoenzymatic Cascades for the Synthesis of Pyrroles
A chemoenzymatic cascade process for the sustainable production of pyrroles has been developed. Pyrroles were synthesized by exploiting the previously unexplored aromatizing activity of monoamine oxidase enzymes (MAO-N and 6-HDNO). MAO-N/6-HDNO whole cell biocatalysts are able to convert 3-pyrrolines into pyrroles under mild conditions and in high yields. Transition-metal-free hydrogenation of aryl halides: From alcohol to aldehyde
A transition-metal-and catalyst-free hydrogenation of aryl halides, promoted by bases with either aldehydes or alcohols, is described. One equivalent of benzaldehyde affords an equal yield as that of 0.5 equiv of benzyl alcohol. The kinetic study reveals that the initial rate of PhCHO is much faster than that of BnOH, in the ratio of nearly 4:1. The radical trapping experiments indicate the radical nature of this reaction. Based on the kinetic study, trapping and KIE experiments, and control experiments, a tentative mechanism is proposed. As a consequence, a wide range of (hetero)aryl iodides and bromides were efficiently reduced to their corresponding (hetero)arenes. Thus, for the first time, aldehydes are directly used as hydrogen source instead of other well-established alcohol-hydrogen sources.

A carbon nitride supported copper nanoparticle composite: a heterogeneous catalyst for the N-arylation of hetero-aromatic compounds
A graphitic carbon nitride supported copper nanoparticle composite (Cu-gCN) has been found to be an active catalyst for the N-arylation of hetero-aromatic systems (pyrrole, pyrazole, and substituted indole) and benzamide molecules, with high product selectivity and good to excellent yields, using substituted aryl bromide as a coupling partner. The intercalated structure and the amine functional group of the carbon nitride prevent the aggregation of the catalytically active copper species during the reaction, and the recyclability study shows the stable performance of the catalyst without a significant loss of catalytic activity.

Direct Synthesis of Pyrroles via Heterogeneous Catalytic Condensation of Anilines with Bioderived Furans
Given the wide applications of pyrroles in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and supramolecular and materials chemistry, a mild and eco-friendly route to produce functionalized pyrroles from bioderived feedstocks is highly desirable. Described herein is a mild and convenient synthesis of pyrroles via direct condensation of an equimolar amount of structurally diverse anilines with biobased furans catalyzed by a simple and efficient solid acid H form zeolite Y catalyst. The protocol tolerates a large variety of functional groups and offers a general and versatile method for scale-up synthesis of a variety of N-substituted pyrrole compounds. Most importantly, the bioactive pyrrole-derived drug pyrvinium, which has lately been confirmed as highly effective in curing colon cancer, can be obtained by this method.

Iron-catalyzed sustainable synthesis of pyrrole
Efficient, sustainable, highly regiospecific substituted pyrroles were synthesized using a well-defined, air stable, molecular iron(0) complex. The developed methodology is broadly applicable and tolerates a variety of functional groups. C-2, C-3, and C-2 & C-4 substituted pyrroles were synthesized in good yield. Symmetrical bis-pyrroles were accessible for the first time using an iron catalyst. On the basis of the experimental observation, we propose that the reaction proceeds through a hydrogen autotransfer process followed by second oxidation/ intramolecular dehydrative condensation to provide the pyrrole.

Highly reusable support-free copper(II) complex of para-hydroxy-substituted salen: Novel, efficient and versatile catalyst for C─N bond forming reactions
An air-stable, highly active and versatile method for C─N bond forming reactions is reported. Under mild conditions using a highly reusable support-free Cu(II)–salen complex, structurally diverse N-aryl-substituted compounds were obtained via direct C─N bond forming reaction of HN-heterocycles with aryl iodides or three-component C─N bond forming reaction of 2-bromobenzaldehyde, aniline derivatives and sodium azide in good to excellent yields. C─N bond forming reaction for benzimidazole derivatives was also performed in the presence of the catalyst under ambient conditions. A series of hybrid benzimidazoles bearing morpholine, tetrazole and quinoxaline backbones were produced using this method. All reactions were performed in short times under air. The Cu(II) catalyst could be reused up to eight times in the direct cross-coupling reaction of 9H–carbazole with iodobenzene without any decrease in its catalytic activity.

Isocyanide-Induced Activation of Copper Sulfate: Direct Access to Functionalized Heteroarene Sulfonic Esters
A novel and direct approach to alkyl/aryl heteroarene sulfonic esters using copper sulfate as the environmentally benign inorganic sulfonation reagent was first realized with the aid of isocyanide. A variety of heterocycles reacted to afford the corresponding sulfonic esters through C?H functionalization. In this transformation, the otherwise inert copper sulfate was unusually activated by an isocyanide and employed as the source of the sulfonic substituents in an unprecedented fashion. The findings suggest that an appropriate activator may liberate the chemical activities of some relatively inert inorganic salts for organic synthesis.

A novel and convenient method for the preparation of 5-(diphenylmethylene)-1H-pyrrol-2(5H)-ones; synthesis and mechanistic study
An efficient, regioselective synthesis has been developed for the preparation of 5-(diphenylmethylene)-1H-pyrrol-2(5H)-ones from readily available 1H-pyrroles by sequential dibromination and selective organometallic bromine/lithium exchange followed by reaction with benzophenone. Comparison of various N-substituents was shown to demonstrate the high tolerance of the transformation to functional groups. The structures of the new products were determined by spectroscopic methods and confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction measurement. In addition, theoretical study of the reaction mechanism and selective functionalization of the endocyclic double bond were also presented.

Discovery of allosteric and selective inhibitors of inorganic pyrophosphatase from mycobacterium tuberculosis
Inorganic pyrophosphatase (PPiase) is an essential enzyme that hydrolyzes inorganic pyrophosphate (PPi), driving numerous metabolic processes. We report a discovery of an allosteric inhibitor (2,4-bis(aziridin-1-yl)-6-(1-phenylpyrrol-2-yl)-s-triazine) of bacterial PPiases. Analogues of this lead compound were synthesized to target specifically Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) PPiase (MtPPiase). The best analogue (compound 16) with a Ki of 11 μM for MtPPiase is a species-specific inhibitor. Crystal structures of MtPPiase in complex with the lead compound and one of its analogues (compound 6) demonstrate that the inhibitors bind in a nonconserved interface between monomers of the hexameric MtPPiase in a yet unprecedented pairwise manner, while the remote conserved active site of the enzyme is occupied by a bound PPi substrate. Consistent with the structural studies, the kinetic analysis of the most potent inhibitor has indicated that it functions uncompetitively, by binding to the enzyme-substrate complex. The inhibitors appear to allosterically lock the active site in a closed state causing its dysfunctionalization and blocking the hydrolysis. These inhibitors are the first examples of allosteric, species-selective inhibitors of PPiases, serving as a proof-of-principle that PPiases can be selectively targeted.

A ring closing metathesis-manganese dioxide oxidation sequence for the synthesis of substituted pyrroles
The combination of ring closing, or enyne metathesis with oxidation in order to prepare N-sulfonyl pyrroles is described. Reasonable to good yields were obtained for a variety of substituents and the procedure may also be conducted in one-pot. 2-Bromo N-sulfonyl adducts prepared in this manner were subjected to an intramolecular Heck-type cyclisation, forming cyclic sulfonamides.
