From the root bark of Mussaenda arcuata two iridoid glucosides, shanzhiside methyl ester and the new 8-acetylshanzhiside methyl ester have been isolated.Moreover, from the root bark of Tarenna graveolens three iridoid glucosides, ixoside and two new, 6-feruloylshanzhiside, named tarennine, and ixoside 11-methyl ester, have been isolated.
