SOLUTION: A method for producing 2-chloroacetoacetate amide includes causing the reaction between acetoacetate amide and trichloroisocyanuric acid (where, the trichloroisocyanuric acid is 0.30 to 0.38 mol times the acetoacetate amide) to occur in an ethanol solvent; preferably, the ethanol content is 3 to 10 weight times the acetoacetate amide.
