Boron Spirochelates Derived from Some Hydroxamic Acids and Carboxylic Acids
A number of boron spirochelates of the general formula BY have been synthesized by the single-pot reaction of boric acid, a hydroxamic acid R'CON(R)OH and a carboxylic acid H2Y.The spirochelates have been characterized by elemental analyses, by IR, NMR (1H and 11B) and UV spectra and and conductance measurements. They are non-electrolytes.

Boron Chelates of N-Substituted Hydroxamic Acids
Boron chelates 2 - 6 are synthesized from N-alkyl- or N-arylhydroxamic acids 1 and various boron compounds that are capable of being chelated by bidentate ligands. The spectroscopic data correspond to the cyclic B,N-betaine structure of 2 - 6 and reflect the Lewis acidity of the chelated borenium ions as well as the extent of electron delocalization in the hydroxamate ligands.
