 Ignitable Liquids Reference Collection
  • Ignitable Liquids Reference Collection
  • This is the Ignitable Liquids Reference Collection (ILRC) developed by the ILRC Committee of the Technical Working Group for Fire and Explosions (TWGFEX).
This reference collection stems from pioneering work by the Illinois State Police Crime Laboratory System under the leadership of Bruce VanderKolk and Susan Johns, and the Pinellas County (Florida) Crime Laboratory under the direction of Reta Newman and Kevin Lothridge.
The intent of the database with its associated liquid repository is to provide a searchable resource that allows a laboratory to isolate an ignitable liquid of interest for inclusion into an in-house reference collection. Commercial products are obtained from manufacturers and distributors, and then repackaged for distribution using the product name assigned. The database is designed for screening purposes only; it does not replace ASTM requirements for an in-house reference collection. The classification system parallels the ASTM classification, with some variation, to assist the user's search and to maintain consistency.
