Uses of Dodecanoic acid,3-hydroxy-: it is used to produce other chemicals. For example, it can react with Benzyl 2-amino-6-O-benzyloxymethyl-2-deoxy-4-O-(diphenoxyphosphinyl)-3-O-(2-tetradecylhexadecanoyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside to get 2-Tetradecyl-hexadecanoic acid 2-benzyloxy-6-benzyloxymethoxymethyl-5-(bis-phenoxy-phosphoryloxy)-3-(3-hydroxy-dodecanoylamino)-tetrahydro-pyran-4-yl ester. The reaction occurs with reagent 1-(3-Dimethylaminopropyl)-3-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride and solvent CH2Cl2  at ambient temperature. The yield is 80 %.

Dodecanoic acid,3-hydroxy- can react with Benzyl 2-amino-6-O-benzyloxymethyl-2-deoxy-4-O-(diphenoxyphosphinyl)-3-O-(2-tetradecylhexadecanoyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside to get 2-Tetradecyl-hexadecanoic acid 2-benzyloxy-6-benzyloxymethoxymethyl-5-(bis-phenoxy-phosphoryloxy)-3-(3-hydroxy-dodecanoylamino)-tetrahydro-pyran-4-yl ester
