(26) Data not shown. We speculate that in reactions with electron-
deficient aryl acetylenes, the catalyst is inactivated by the formation of a
catalytically inactive copper actylide. We have observed a similar
limitation of the substrate scope in the recently reported hydro-
bromination reaction (see ref 18).
