Pharmaceutically active silica-supported ionic liquids (API-
SILPs) provide not only a simple technology to handle and
dose liquid drug formulations, but also a device for drug
delivery and in vitro release from the silica carrier with rapid
and complete leaching in aqueous media. One of the key
benefits of silica-supported ionic liquid (SILP) delivery systems
is the ability to control and fine-tune the release of the
adsorbed IL by adjusting the design of the ionic liquid form
