16. Attempts to use lower reaction temperatures in both
variants using the rate-acceleration effect of the highly
bulky PtBu3 ligand [Pd2(dba)3/PtBu3, CsF for the
stannane16a or Cs2CO3 for the organoborane16b as
additives in dioxane at 25 ꢁC] proved unrewarding.
The Stille reaction suffered from extensive reductive
removal of the bromine atom, whereas the Suzuki
reaction [100 ꢁC for 8, M = B(OMe)2] gave rise to
complex mixtures of products that were not identified
