independent of the pH, and strong pH dependence can only be
observed in the later phase of the reaction, where the role of the
thiosulfateꢀperiodate reaction is negligible. It is, therefore,
expected that the rate law model of the thiosulfateꢀperiodate
reaction explaining the (oligo)oscillatory behavior in CSTR will
further be refined in the near future for an adequate description
of the experimental observations reported previously. It is
demonstrated as well that strong buffer assistance plays a
significant role in the later phase of the overall reaction. The
present kinetic model, however, is not yet able to take this
phenomenon into account but may pave the way for further
investigations mainly focusing on the problems to be solved.
