The Kemp elimination of 1,2-benzisoxazole caused by the
organocopper species can produce salicylonitrile, which serves as a

The level of the deuterium incorporation of the protonation products
was determined to be 95% via the low-resolution EI mass spectrum.

substrates has also been reported in: d) S.-L. Shi, Z. L. Wong, S. L.
Buchwald, Nature 2016, 532, 353-356. However, the results
described in this paper suggest that the carbonyl was fully reduced
before the hydroamination reaction occurred. The regioselectivity of
the reaction was mainly determined by the aryl group, since no
carbonyl was present during the hydroamination. Thus, we believe
that this is a mechanistically distinct process from that in the current
paper.
