essentially quantitative.
21. It was found that the Raney catalyst retained activity through at
least six reductions of nitrile 1d. In each reduction 1d was completely
converted into 2d within 1 h. The used catalyst was washed with
fresh 2-propanol (3 Â 10 mL) prior to reuse.
