reduction is highly solvent dependent and good selectivity for
the hydroxylamine product is observed only when the catalyst is
soluble in the organic solvent. This solvent effect provides an
attractive approach for altering the reactivity of nanoparticle
catalysts by varying their solubility in the reaction solvent. The
hydroxylamine-forming transformation tolerates a significant
number of easily reduced functional groups, as well as a variety
of N-heteroaromatic structures that could find widespread
application in the development of new pharmaceuticals.
