with ethyl bromide (ref. [5b]). The “dried P4 base” also showed
catalytic reactivity for the activation of alkynylsilanes. How-
ever, further careful spectroscopic experiments are necessary to
clarify the exact mode of activation; NMR studies are currently
underway.
