brightness after two-photon excitation is equal to the product of the
quantum yield of fluorescence, FðF2Þ,and the cross-section for two-
photon absorption, d. In the case of donor–acceptor fluorophores,
one generally considers that the same emissive state is reached after
one- and two-photon excitation,so that FðF2Þ =FFð1Þ (ref.[31]). The
