donor sites and their corresponding mono/binuclear
Zn(II) and Cu(II) complexes. The complexes presented
in this report demonstrate the ability of the ONNO
donor sites of ligands to Zn(II) and Cu(II) metal ions.
These complexes were studied for the PTE activity.
Among three complexes tested, the mononuclear Zn(II)
having one water molecule at metal centre and a bi-
nuclear Cu(II) complex exhibit PTE activity. The bi-
nuclear Zn(II) complex is not efficient in hydrolysing
PNPDPP to diester, which can be ascribed to the
inability of this complex to generate a metal-bound
hydroxide. In agreement with our previous studies on

activated water molecules can exhibit significant PTE
