question produce a stronger antimicrobial effect than tericidal activity towards different microorganisms.
The antibacterial properties of these compounds creꢀ
ate prerequisites for their application as antiseptics.
the reference preparations (Fig. 1).
The results of testing for the synthesized comꢀ
pounds show that the antimicrobial activity of the
investigational compounds can be arranged in the folꢀ
lowing order: enantiomer > racemate > reference
drug.

(
Staphylococcus aureus

,
microbial effect of the test bicyclo[2.2.1]heptꢀ5ꢀeneꢀ
2,3ꢀdicarboxylic acid monoesters is displayed over a
much shorter period of time in comparison with the
reference bactericides usually applied in medical pracꢀ
tice. This activity makes them to hold promise for use
as topical antiseptics. The results of this testing are
given in Table 5 and Fig. 2.

In summary, based on the asymmetric Diels–Alder
reaction of cyclopentadiene with different dienophiles
(II–VI and XII–XIV), we synthesized bicyclic esters
of the norbornene series. The optimal reaction condiꢀ
tions and the factors influencing the stereoꢀ and enanꢀ
tioselectivity of the synthesized adducts were estabꢀ
lished. It was shown that temperature is the dominatꢀ
ing factor: the optical yield of the adducts is higher at
lower temperature, whereas their chemical yield
changes insignificantly. On the basis of different
dienophiles and 1,3ꢀdienes isolated from liquid pyrolꢀ
ysis products, we synthesized the cyclohexene and
bicyclo[2.2.1]heptene derivatives exhibiting high bacꢀ
