chiral ligands for use in asymmetric addition reactions.
carbonyl compounds, especially for α,β-unsaturated aldehydes,
excellent activity (TON up to 36500) and selectivity can be
obtained, indicating the potential practical usage. Experiments
and calculation studies revealed an alternative H2 activation
model and a novel outer-sphere mechanism for hydrogenation.
The unique bifunctional catalyst Ru-SPO offers an excellent
and new platform to develop more versatile SPO-type
catalysts.
