H. H. Monfared and M. Ghorbani: Oxidation of Hydrocarbons
General procedure for oxidation reactions in the presence of supported catalyst
To a solution of substrate (0.59 mmol) containing supported catalyst (0.20 g) in CHCl3 (3.5 cm3), an
aqueous solution of 35% H2O2 (0.5 cm3, 6 mmol) was added, and the reaction mixture was stirred for
an appropriate time at 31Æ1ꢀC. At the end of the reaction, the mixture was ®ltered through a 60 cm3
40F fritted funnel. The solid was washed with 3 cm3 of the reaction solvent, and the washings were
added to the ®ltrate. After evaporation of the solvent, the molar ratio of the crude products was
determined by 1H NMR spectroscopy. The nature of the products was ascertained by comparing their
1
IR and H NMR spectra with those of authentic samples.
