However, the oxygen loaded on the surface saturated with
the NOx,ads species is not reactive with respect to CO oxidation
to CO2. This is in contrast to the oxygen loaded on the NOx,ads
free surface, which is very active in CO oxidation even at 473
K. Surface NOx,ads species probably block the sites necessary
for CO activation, which may be in the vicinity of the loaded
oxygen. Hence, the ability to activate a substrate is a very
important feature of Fe-ZSM-5 catalysts responsible for their
high activity observed in oxidation reactions by N2O.
