(shown in Fig. 5b). Several unclear Mo2C particle can be
observed (Fig. 5c), which is covered by amorphous carbon and it
can be conrmed by XRD result. The interlayer distance of a
single Mo2C was also clearly observed (Fig. 5c, inset). This circle
area was further analyzed by EDS (Fig. 5d), there are only the
carbon and the molybdenum peaks besides several Cu grid
peaks. The results show that the structures and morphologies of
OLC as well as the dispersion of Mo2C have not changed before
and aer reaction, which suggest that OLC as support is effec-
tive for improving property of Mo2C catalysts.
As we know, there are great inuences of support on
improving catalytic performance. Our previous studies show
that the supports with short-channel are superior to that with
long-path.5 The low porosity of onion-like carbon (OLC) was
benecial in some reactions.22 These suggest that the OLC with
no channels can promote desorption and diffusion of benzene
and improve catalytic property of molybdenum carbide in the
conversion of cyclohexane. Therefore, it is effective to use
onion-like carbon as support for improving the performance of
metal carbide and the OLC-supported Mo2C is a potential
catalyst substitute for noble metal.

4. Conclusions
Molybdenum carbide over onion-like carbon (Mo2C/OLC) was
evidenced to be an ideal catalyst for dehydrogenation. The
Mo2C/OLC exhibits different properties when Mo content is 20 O. Shenderova, C. Jones, V. Borjanovic, S. Hens,
various. Especially, the stability of Mo2C/OLC catalysts was
higher than that of Pt catalyst by controlling the Mo content,
