17) In previous studies on Lewis acid-catalyzed ring opening of
N
aziridines with amines (see ref 15b and references cited therein),
anilines have been found to be highly reactive nucleophiles for the
ring opening of N-Ts/Ar aziridines. A control experiment performed
by adding 0.5 equiv of N-methyl anisidine to the reaction system
under reaction conditions that were otherwise the same as those
defined in Table 1, entry 9, showed full conversion of both the
anisidine and the aziridine within 4 h and a very complicated reaction
system was obtained, which is also supportive of this presumption.
