New TEA complexes with biologically active copper(II)
salts, including binuclear mixed ligand complexes with
tetradentate coordination of TEA (1, 2) and the cationic
mononuclear complex 3 with tridentate coordination of
TEA were synthesized and characterized. The thermal sta-
bility studies of the synthesized compounds have shown that
melting of complexes 1–3 begins in a narrow temperature
range of 123–136 °C, regardless of their structure. How-
ever, decomposition characteristics depend heavily on the
complex structure, so decomposition temperature varies in a
wide temperature range. Cationic complex 3 showed a wider
spectrum of antimicrobial activity to the tested microorgan-
isms (MIC 100 µg/ml), and binuclear complexes 1 and 2
have high and selective activity against S. aureus.
