20. In a domestic microwave, a solvent-free technique is recom-
mended to avoid possible incidents. A solid support capable
of absorbing microwave radiations (such as aluminium oxides
or silica) is first impregnated with a solution of the reactants in
a volatile solvent. Then, the solvent is completely removed by
evaporation and the solid support with the absorbed reagents is
irradiated by microwaves. These procedure has the advantage
that in the microwave oven the high pressures had to the
heating of liquids do not develop and no-specialized instru-
ments to generate microwaves are necessary. See for example:
