8. The deposition of platinum on polystyrene microspheres has been used
by Akashi et al. to obtain hydrogenation catalysts for the hydro-
genation of allyl alcohols: Chen, C.-W.; Chen, M.-Q.; Serizawa, T.;
Akashi, M. Chem. Commun. 1998, 831–832.
9. The loading capacityof the resin was determined bycleaving the ester
from the loaded bead with sodium methoxide in methanol at room
temperature. from the yield of 4-nitro benzoic acid methyl ester (8a) a
capacityof 0.6 mmol/g of pol ym er bead was calculated.
0. Deposition of palladium onto the resin at room temperature is possible
byaddition of h yd razine h yd rate to the palladium salt solution. prop-
erties of the beads are similar as described above. Experiments to
deposit palladium from palladium salt solution using ultrasound
were not successful.
