A simulated extraction course for PhgH racemate
can be established to describe the flux over the in-
terface. A comparison of the experimental values with
the model predictions is shown in Fig. 11 proving that
the extraction course can be simulated with good ac-
curacy and the difference between the experimental
and simulated equilibrium is only a small one. Thus,
the model is suitable for the description of the extrac-
tion course.
Conclusions
Kinetic studies of liquid–liquid reactive extraction
of phenylglycine racemate by BINAP–Cu were carried
out in a modified Lewis cell. The theory of extraction
accompanied with a chemical reaction was used to ob-
tain an insightful understanding of the kinetic data.
The apparent reaction orders were found to be 1.4
and 0.3 with respect to PhgH and BINAP–Cu, respec-
tively. The extraction course can be simulated with
good accuracy using the obtained rate equations. The
results obtained in this paper will be useful for the de-
sign and operation of reactive extraction equipment.
