a 2,6-di(pyrazin-2-yl)-4,4'-bipyridine appeared as a
promising candidate but resulted in poor photostability when
used in the photocatalytic system. C1 and C3, however, exhibit
photostability similar to [Ru(toltpy)(bipytpy)](PF6)2 and
maintained a stable rate of activity over 48h, resulting in TON of
35 and 110 under blue irradiation and 25 and 100 under green
light. However, while the complexes reported herein possess
promising photostability compared to archetypical complexes
such as [Ru(bpy)3](PF6)2, the trade-off between activity and
stability is the main challenge our future work will focus on.
