ligands around the quantum dot particles. Lack of rotational and
vibrational freedom in CBTSH leads to a decrease in some of
the nonradiative decay processes, resulting in enhanced fluor-
escence. The aggregation of the CBTSH capped CdSe QDs was
confirmed with TEM images. The solvent effect and the effect of
the ligand to QD particle ratio on the emission enhancement
confirm the aggregation induced emission enhancement pheno-
mena in CBTSCdSe quantum dots. Emission enhancement of a
fluorophore upon attachment to a quantum dot surface, as
demonstrated in this work, can find potential applications in bio-
logical nanosensors, biochemical labeling, and in optoelectronic
nanodevices.
