refinement are given in Table X. Data were corrected for
Lp effects and for observed linear decay of the reference
reflections. An empirical absorption correction (DIFABS)

X-ray crystallography
Crystals of H4DMLO, 4,6.16 and 17 suitable for X-ray in calculated positions riding on their carried atoms in
diffraction were mounted on glass fibers and transferred to 4, 6 and 17. Neutral atom scattering factors and anoma-
lous dispersion corrections were taken from the Interna-
tional Tables for X-Ray Crystallography [35]. Geomet-
an Enraf Nonius CAD4 diffractometer. Accurate unit-cell
parameters and an orientation matrix were determined by
least-squares refinement of the setting angles of a set of rical calculations and illustrations were performed with
the SHELXL97 [34], ZORTEP [36] and PLATON98 [37]
package. Further details of structure analysis are available
