J. Bill et al.: Structure Analysis and Properties of Si±C±N Ceramics
The reason for the substantial creep resistance of precursor-derived ceramics is prob-
ably due to the lack of grain boundaries and a rather high viscosity, i.e. a very low
diffusion coefficient in the predominantly covalent bonded amorphous material.
In the light of this potential of creep resistance it seems to be worthwhile to investi-
gate the initial creep deformation in more detail and to find out whether the extraordi-
nary initial deformation can be decreased by a decrease of porosity.
