It has also been used as a calcium mobilizer to investigate its effect on superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) aggregates in VSC 4.1 cells. 4-Bromo-A23187 is an ionophore that transports Zn2+ and Mn2+ with high selectivity over Ca2+.
