  • Uses For use in calmodulin (P 0270) assay. Activity is reduced to <50% without calmodulin present. Phosphodiesterase, 3′,5′-cyclic-nucleotide-specific from bovine brain has been used to assay the protein activator, calmodulin and in in vitro adenylate cyclase assay.
  • Clinical Use Phosphodiesterase-3 (PDE3) is an enzyme responsible for degradation of cAMP to AMP in platelets and blood vessels. Selective cAMP PDE3 inhibitors, such as dipyridamole and cilostazol , inhibit the degradation of cAMP, thereby increasing cellular concentration of cAMP and leading to inhibition of platelet aggregation and vasodilation.
