It is also used to prepare N,N-diaryl-o-phenylenediamines and 4(5)-(2-chlorophenyl)-1H-imidazole. It reacts with lanthanum metal in the presence of trimethylchlorosilane to prepare 1-chloro-2-trimethylsilylbenzene. 1-Chloro-2-iodobenzene has been used in the preparation of N,N-diaryl-o-phenylenediamines and 4(5)-(2-chlorophenyl)-1H-imidazole.
