  • Description Phosacetim is a white crystalline powder in appearance. It is a toxic organophosphate compound used as a rodenticide and acts as an inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase enzyme. On heating, phosacetim undergoes decomposition to emit toxic fumes, primarily chlorides and oxides of nitrogen, sulphur, and phosphorus. Phosacetim is susceptible to formation of highly toxic and flammable phosphine gas in the presence of strong reducing agents such as hydrides. Partial oxidation by oxidising agents may result in the release of toxic phosphorus oxides.
