Moderately toxic by intravenous route. Human systemic effects by ingestion: cyanosis. Large doses internally have a cathartic action. Violent reaction with NaNO2. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of SOx and Na2O. See also THIOSULFATES and SODIUM MONOXIDE.
